set the world on fire with bitter sweet desire
The room was small, a little area set up for a few instruments and a microphone. There were a few chairs, the space looking more like a backstage waiting room than anything else and that's basically what it was, it was just used for practice.
Lance did a mic check, his other band mates checked their instruments, and when everything sounded great, they started up their warm-ups.
The mic stand was taken into Lance's hand and he held it close, letting his voice pour into it as he performed for the empty room, including Lukas. He was there, watching. Lance looked over at him as he sang, swaying with the stand.

The place was a palace in comparison to where he and his band practiced. While everyone prepared their instruments, Lukas found a chair and nosily dragged it closer with an awful screech. He grinned, plopping down.
In such an empty room, Lance stole the smile off his face when he sang. It felt so personal. Lukas blushed, having not expected it to feel so... intimate.
He wondered if this was how those girls felt, sitting outside the garage to listen to them play broken chords and ugly notes.
Lance wasn't ugly, though. It was melodic, dark, and dramatic. Seeing him sway with the stand, the boy swallowed. Somehow, this song seemed so familiar. He wasn't sure where he'd heard it, but he knew he'd heard it somewhere.
Fuck, that chorus.
Arms crossed his chest, face forced into a scowl to mask his enjoyment. But he felt his heart pounding, as though trying to break through his chest and be stolen.

His fingers held the mic tightly, his opposite hand caressing the air. He was into the music, full of so much passion. It was obvious that Lance cared a lot about what he did. The song wasn't his, but he sang it as though it were his own.
He sang it to someone.
When it was done, Lance took a step back and collected his thoughts with his bandmates, subtle nods were given towards each other, then the vocalist pulled away and went towards the mic again for the next song on the list. Each song was done this way, some songs were sung twice just to work out the kinks, but each one was given great care.

Absolutely absorbed, it wasn't until he bit his lip that he realized he'd begun to smile. A crack in his permanent scowl. Naturally, Luksa couldn't have that. He didn't want to let on how much Lance's passion excited him. This performance, even if it was just a practice, had made such a fan out of him. He gripped the seat and tried to look more impatient than anything.
Man... he wanted to sing with him. He wanted to get in on that high. A smirk broke through his unpleasant expression, humoring the idea of Lance calling him over to play with him. Not just and idle watcher, but a musician, too.

As he sang, Lance looked out onto Lukas, noticing his excitement. He could see his smile trying to break through and it caused Lance to smile, too. So he liked it? The little punk liked his performance?
"Birds of Hell awaiting, with the wings on fire."
Lance locked eyes with the boy and grinned, flashing him a wink as he sang his lyrics to him.
"Insane old Phoenix, baby," he purred into the microphone. "It's your death desire."

Dangerous music, that's what Lance created. All the notes, the chords, the arrangement--the man heard these vile sounds in his mind and put lyrics to it. Lukas found himself oddly entranced by the imagery, eyes filled with the roaring flames of inspiration.
He liked it. So much fire, so much bitterness in every lyric he sang since their practice began. The boy felt his heart pound, his cheeks filling with heat when Lance winked at him. It wasn't hard to catch on, and he was subtly mouthing the words.
Lukas sat at the very edge of his chair, arms twisted behind his he held the opposite end. His ankles crossed. When did Lance say was his next show? The boy wondered. Maybe Lance would let him hangout and watch backstage, too... oh, shit. He bit his smiling lips, trying to chew it away.

baby, I wanna break you
The song ended soon enough and they were on to the next one. Lance loved the fact that Lukas was so into the music, so into the lyrics. They were some of Lance's favorite songs, full of passion and so much emotion.
The next song was just as emotional, heavy music that was full and filled his body as it flowed through him. He extended his arm out, pointing at the other male, a serious expression on his face. "Yeah, I gotta hurt you." Could Lukas feel it? That danger? Lukas was dangerous on stage, but so was Lance in a completely different way.
"I'm gonna lay you in the ground."

Lukas had remained relatively well-behaved up until the man pointed at him. He growled when stung by the words directed at him. It was too much, the unruly child was ready to start a riot. When he pushed off the chair, the unintended amount of force knocked it over. His outrageous presence joined Lance, cupping the microphone between his clammy palms. The boy didn't need it, he'd let Lance keep his hold, but he sang into it a broken word, "Desire," pulled to the heights of his projected breath, pitching into an attractive whine at the end. His eyes like glassy sights locked on Lance, targeted in the cross-hairs of his contracted pupils.

His heart pounded when the chair flung across the small room, the legs squealing against the concrete floor as it skirted back.
The way Lukas' voice breathed and whined into the mic was different than what he'd heard the other night at the boy's gig. "I'm hungry" This voice was actually melodic, real feeling behind the words. "I hope. you'll. feed. me." It was more attractive to Lance than that awful banshee screaming and howling.
As they sang, Lance coaxed harmony, looking down at the smaller boy as he cupped the mic.

Lukas wanted a piece of that other world dripping off the man's lips. He exhaled, listening carefully to the sounds. One foot exchanged the weight of his body to the other, unconsciously stepping as close as he could possibly stand against the man. His brows furrowed, trying to find the right pitch so their voices would meld together.
His steely eyes flicked up, refocused on the latter's from the distraction Lance's mouth had caused. His body jostled when his heel hit the floor, following the rhythm. "HOW DO YOU WANT ME, HOW DO YOU WANT ME?" That carnal energy leapt into his voice, a gritty resonance so familiar but so new. An enticingly sweet growl, but pleadingly loud. A soft, melodious scream.
