His favorite: Earl Grey boba tea. He always got one when he had the extra money, sad that saying boba was actually a luxury rather than a minor purchase. He blamed his band, always ending up quitting a show halfway through, causing them to not get paid as a result.
He huffed as he punctured the plastic film with his straw, then hummed as he leaned up against the side of the building and sipped the chilled delicacy.

she had the idea that it was going to rain. eyes trained upwards, hood up as if it was raining already, karin raised a hand to touch the swollen sky, like a balloon that might pop. full. wet. satiated. she licked her lips, tilted her head back as if to lick the moisture from the air.
"hey. did the forecast say it was supposed to rain today?" she says her piece before she's even noticed him, and then karin locks eyes with the boy and makes it clear he is the intended now. "it did, right?"

He hadn't noticed the girl at first, but when their eyes locked, he sort of just stared at her for a few seconds. Brown eyes glanced to the side, then back to the girl to make sure it really was him that she was talking to, his straw hanging out of his mouth. "Uh...'
The rain? Michael hadn't really paid attention and he really didn't read the newspapers much in the recent days. He shrugged. "I dunno," his mouth wording over the straw as he spoke. "You look suited to deal with the rain anyway." Hood and everything.

he looks uncomfortable, and karin averts her eyes - don't look at me like that. she tucks her hands into her pockets, considers the sky as if for advice, then turns abruptly to face him full on, jutting out a hip.
"it did." she tells him assuredly. "but, like... do you think it hurts the sky to rain?"
karin pauses, lets the solemnity of the thought sink in - is it like being gutted? - and then she breaks into a good natured grin, shifts over to rest an elbow on his shoulder. "nah, i'm kidding. that's weird."

Wait what? Did the sky hurt to rain? Michael stared at this girl and perked a brow at her, blinking to make sure she was real. "Uh, I--" but before he could really respond she'd smirked and put her arm on his shoulder and laughed. She dismissed her question and Michael felt a heat in his cheeks, second-hand embarrassment for her.
"Right..." He took another sip off his boba and glanced to the side, then to her again. "So what're you doing here?" He supposed he'd try to make conversation.

what they really call crazy isn't funny like that. but his reaction is nice, spot on, raised brows and big shiny eyes. he's blushing at her question, and karin almost needs to pity him, for he's never known the true release of a downpour.
she's leaning into him, as if wondering if there's some way to sneak a drink; but there really isn't. so she drops her arm and settles with her back against the wall. "standing." she tells him flatly. at least she was trying to be interesting.

Well duh, he could see that she was standing. Everyone was standing if they weren't sitting. He made a face at her, narrowing his eyes a bit and pushing his mouth to the side as if to silently call her cheeky.
"Are you afraid of the rain or something?" She'd been so insistent on the subject of the weather that he couldn't help but ask.

with her back against the wall, karin goes statue still, staring at the passing people with the look of boredom, someone channel surfing.
she glances over at the boy with a mild interest when he speaks up. "that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard." she says with an incredulous note. "are people really... is that a thing?" shrugging, as if not entirely expecting an answer, karin flips down her hood. "i'm not scared of anything." it doesn't seem like boasting, but a flat fact.

He blinked at her. "Well yeah, of course it's a thing. If it exists, then the probability of someone being afraid of it is very high," he replied as if he was shocked that she honestly didn't realize that.
Though when she took off her hood and declared her bravery, Michael smiled, his teeth showing a little bit past his lips. "I'd have to think that you were weird if you were afraid of the rain."

karin shrugged. other people were of little consequence or interest. no loss no gain, just a way to pass the time if she so chose.
"otherwise, i'm not?" she doesn't return his smile, she looks serious. "weird, that is."
