She seems so aloof, yet confident in her decision. It makes him smile, broad and honest.
He takes another sip of his tea, then points at her with the drink. A gentle gesture towards her, barely even a movement. "You're cool," he replies, tilting his head to the side.

he has a nice smile - karin's never gotten the hang of smiles, and so she doesn't return it.
"cool." she repeats, and there's a clear satisfaction in her tone. "so, you wanna buy me a drink then?" a pointed glance towards his drink, and then she decides to try it, flashing him a smile. "not like, an alcoholic one... unless you want to." she isn't trying to pick him up - there's not anything flirtatious in her manner - but she's thirsty. and it doesn't hurt to ask.

So much for the bad boy, she's managed to pull his natural niceness out of him and he shrugs. "Sure, what do you want?" A kind gesture of thanks for even talking to him. People tend to avoid him; perhaps his scar is scary. It adds to his bad boy image and an image is all it is.
Deep down, he's shy and bursting to be kind, but "nice guys can't be bad kids," and it always echoes through his mind, reminding him of his mistake.
Michael doesn't mind paying for her drink, but it reminds him that he's low on cash again. Just one act of kindness won't hurt though and his parents always talks about Good Karma.
He'll eventually get something good back for this, one day, right? Isn't that how karma works?

"hm." karin has learned not to hold expectations, but admittedly she hadn't expected him to agree. "let's walk."
not waiting for a reply, she pushes off the wall and steps into the rain. it's gone from a drizzle to downpour somewhere during their conversion, and it is more pleasant than the awkward silence. she's always liked noise.

He tilted his head. Did that mean she didn't want her drink after all?
Michael pushed off the wall after her and started to walk beside her. The rain was so heavy, soaking him through to the bone, but he seemed not to mind it. He looked up, watching the drops fall onto his face, into his eyes, and he closed them. His hair was soaked, so he ran a hand through it to slick it back and out of his face.
"Where are we going?"
