It'd probably been a week or so since he'd last seen Lance. Really, that was all the time he needed to get himself into trouble. The kid was at the telephone-booth, shakily dropping quarters into the slot. He'd found the man's card in his pocket, the same jeans he'd been wearing when they met. Lukas thought he'd gotten rid of it or something. An odd sort of relief came over him. As long as he was involved, he cared, right? The nineteen-year-old pulled the cigarette from between his lips and blew, waiting for his call to be accepted.
"Hey," he said. He hadn't expected the man to answer, so his voice seemed so surreal on the other end. Leaning against the glass wall, he sank down into a squat. "Y'remember that street y'took two block from my house?" Lukas waited for him to say something before he continued, "Can you come get me?" He'd never seen Lance before, so perhaps no one else knew where he was, either. While he wasn't gonna tell the guy his whole plan right away, he intended to hideout around his house for a bit. At least until tensions settled down.
He'd really fucked up this time. He'd fucked up before, but this time they were out for blood. And in his desperation, though he couldn't admit it, it brought him to a word he hadn't used in a long time. "Please?"

He was scribbling down lyrics when his cell phone buzzed across the coffee table. He paused and looked at it for a few moments before he sat down his pen and picked it up. "Hello?"
Lance recognized that voice easily, though unlike how he was used to hearing it, it was a bit shaky through the receiver. He tapped the end of his pen against the coffee table as he nodded in reply. "Yeah, I remember," he went on to say. Apparently he hadn't thrown his number away. In all honesty, Lance had forgotten he'd given the number to him in the first place.
As he listened, Lance nodded, putting down the pen again. "Yeah, give me a few minutes and I'll be there," he replied and closed his phone.
Lukas said please.
As promised, it took him a few minutes, but Lance was there, pulling up in the drive to retrieve the little punk. He unlocked his doors and waited for the other to get inside and once in, Lance pulled out and drove off again. "What's going on," the question was more of a statement than an actual question.

Lukas didn't wanna look up to see who'd pulled up, but when he did he was moderately relieved. His head dipped, smiling with the cigarette between his lips. He stood up from the phone-booth floor, flicking the cigarette butt to the pavement as he walked to the car. Though he wanted to run and get in as fast as he could, he forced himself to pretend there wasn't a reason to hurry. He didn't wanna lead on how much trouble he was in, especially once he got in the car and the man asked. Lukas just shook his head. He didn't wanna talk about it yet, he was tired and starved. The black under his eyes darker, cheeks thinner. He leaned his head against the window, "Can we go to your place or something?"

He figured it was fine and he headed back to his apartment.
Once home, Lance silently headed up the stairs to his room and unlocked the door, pushing it open and letting them in. It was small, clean, and a nice apartment all things considered.
The first thing that Lance did was walk to the kitchen and get a glass of water, pulling down a second glass for his ratty guest. The kid looked rough, rougher than he'd remembered him to be. Once the glass was full he handed it over to Lukas as he sipped from his own. "Here,' he offered after he'd swallowed down what was in his mouth.
He walked over to the couch and sat down, putting his glass on the coffee table and going straight back to the thing he was doing before his cell phone interrupted him. Lukas could sit on the couch next to him or he could sit somewhere else. Either way, Lance had work to do.

It may not have been much to Lance, but when Lukas walked into his apartment he had to act like he wasn't surprised. Well, he wasn't too surprised. That guy didn't seem like the type to live in squalor... everything was so nice and clean. Lukas felt entirely foreign in his home. "Oh," he was busy looking around and hadn't even noticed. He took the glass, unable to keep himself from gulping the whole thing down. Since Lance left to the couch, the boy took it upon himself to pour another glass and join him. Curiously, he peeked over. What was he writing? Lyrics? All the more curious to see what sort of thing Lance did, Lukas leaned closer. "W-what's that?" He peered up at the latter, who should have known already he wouldn't be getting much work done with this brat here.

Not even a few minutes after he had sat down, the other followed after him and leaned over his arm to be nosy of course. Lance paused and looked over at him, perking a brow. "What does it look like?" He asked, and when Lukas didn't reply, the vocalist picked up the paper and handed it over to the punk so he could better read what was written down. "Lyrics."
Had he forgotten? Did he know?
"I'm a vocalist," Lance went on to say. The lyrics on the page were scattered and choppy, obviously a work in progress, but he was willing to show them.

Sure, he knew a few other musicians but they never sat down together and went over each other's works. It came as a shock to him when Lance just handed over what he'd written so far, Lukas' blue eyes asking if it was really okay if he read it. Scanning the scattered words, there were a few he didn't understand and a rhythm he couldn't quite figure out. Obviously, very much a work in progress. When he wrote his songs, it was usually during practice and they were bashing out music. Of course he always had an idea of what he wanted to say, but it was easier. Maybe Lance was the type that could hear it in his head. Lukas pursed his lips. "What's it about?" He asked, stretching his neck to tilt his head. Meanwhile, he took off his ratty shoes and let his toes pluck off his socks so he could fold his legs on the couch.

Yes, Lance was the type that could hear it in his head. he had to be when he was band hopping so much.
Hmm... What was it about was a good question to ask. Thankfully, Lance knew. "Someone," he replied as he took the paper back and placed it on the coffee table again. He grabbed his glass and guzzled more water down. It felt good and cold. He hummed. Was he willing to offer up more information than that? Perhaps, if Lukas could ask the correct questions in the correct ways.

Someone? The boy had nestled down, laying over the armrest with his long legs folded. He glanced back at the writer, unsure if he wanted to hear more about it judging from the words he saw on the page. It seemed like someone Lance was trying hard to hate, but the words despite their meaning were too pretty. Lukas stared at the little things in the apartment. He sighed, burying his face into the sofa. Tired, tired, tired... he balled up on the cushion, more concerned with how long Lance would let him hang around without an explanation than whoever Lance thought hurt him in the past. He muttered something sleepily, a lyrical suggestion for the guy to add to his papers that the kid thought sounded pretty good. After all, he wasn't a complete idiot despite his antics. He had to have a few good words of his own for a band like his to stay afloat.

The offered word, Lance wrote it down to the side as an indication that he thought it interesting. He glanced over and saw the kid all balled up on the other side of his couch and he let out a soft sigh. It looked like he was going to have a roommate for a few days.
At least it was quiet enough that he could work. So he did. He worked for hours until his hand ached and it was then he decided it was time for a break. Lukas seemed to have slept through that whole time, so he gave the guy a shake. "Hey, wake up," he stated, shaking him more. "Why're you here, anyway?" He deserved an explanation.
