 Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream Quinn yawned quietly, fanning herself with a folder. Why was it so muggy inside the studio?! They had MORE than enough money for decent AC. Maybe it was this room? Maybe it was the fear of the recruits who couldn’t bring their full potential to the table when she specifically asked for it. Whatever the case it was almost time to clock out, and Quinn was looking forward to a delicious dinner alone and away from ANL Studios. She flipped through her legal pad once more, names of potential talent crossed out and multiple doodles decorating the sides. One name remained that she couldn’t quite recall the face off. The woman tapped a pen on her chin, readjusting herself in her luxurious spinning chair. She spun slowly until her back was to the entrance, and waited for her final appointment. “I’m drawing a blank to who this kid is.” She said to herself with a small sigh before checking her watch for the time. “If you’re a no show by 10 minutes I’m leaving.” Quinn muttered, flipping the page on her notepad and beginning to write a lazy to do list for when she got home. Something to keep her occupied for the time being. Though she tried to make the best out of the silence, her mind slowly rifted back to that large chocolate chip frappe that was calling her name. What was that? Ten minutes and she was leaving? Hell, she wasn't very patient was she? Lance overheard her speaking to herself as he approached the room, eyes half-lidded from years of a lack of sleep. At least his hair was tied back and kept neat. His clothes were pretty nice, too. Lance knew how important appearance was and could be.
"I'm Lance Davidson," he stated after clearing his throat to gain her attention, the heels of his shoes clicking against the hard floor beneath him. He approached the desk and waited for the woman to turn in her seat before he held out a hand towards her to shake.
The room really was hot, though. If this was such a nice establishment, why didn't they have the funds to keep a building cool? He kept that to himself for the moment.

 Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream Quinn turned her chair quickly, as she became aware of Lance’s presence. She immediately stood up and dropped the clipboard on her chair before stepping forward to give the newcomer a firm handshake. “Quinn Oriole. Good to see you again, Lance Davidson.” She greeted politely echoing his name to remember it. One look at his face was all she needed to jog her memory. How could she forget such a grim face? At least he didn’t look like a nervous wreck or hung over. He had taken measures to look professional which already eared a few positive points with her. She let go, picking up her clip board and sitting back down in her own chair. Pointing to a fold up chair she spoke again, “Have a seat, this’ll take a while Lance. S’okay if call you Lance right?” Quinn picked up her pen clicking it a few times before beginning to twirl it. Eyes ran over the notes she had left on the current page before she flipped it over to begin a new one. “Would you like something to drink? The air is pretty dry here.” The diva continued crossing a leg over the other and staring at Lance, studying him closely. “Tell me about your history with music.” Quinn stated, resting her clipboard on her lap. "Again?" Whoops. Was he supposed to have remembered her from somewhere? He honestly couldn't remember a time when they'd actually met. He'd received an email and a phone call to come into the studio for an interview, but he didn't actually see anybody. At least, not that he could recall.
Did they meet at some party one time? Lance supposed that was possible, but... "I'm sorry, have we actually seen each other before?" He quirked an eyebrow at her, looking her straight in the eyes as he spoke. His weight shifted over to one hip as he got comfortable where he stood.

Instead the woman indulged him. After all questions were to be expected at interviews she supposed. “We’ve never met face to face. I believe someone emailed you in my stead to arrange for you to be here Lance.” She stated. No, but it did not mean she didn’t recognize. She had been the one to find his music videos on Youtube after all. “Of course if you knew me at all it was probably as Queen Dia, with way more glitter and gold on my face.” “I’ve seen what you can do and I think you have potential to become great.” She added. “You wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t put in a recommendation.” She tapped her clip board twice for finality before asking, “Any other questions? No? I’ve already asked you mine so whenever you’re ready.” MADE BY VEL OF GS |

Blinking as he listened to her speak, Lance was a little dumbfounded. Though she said he would've recognized her, the vocalist still didn't.
However, that wasn't the part that dumbfounded him.
"...You..." He paused and lifted a hand, let out a breathy chuckle, then tilted his head at her. "You think I have potential?"
Yes, that was the part that took him off guard. His heart's beat picked up and pounded in his chest at the thought of someone contacting him of their own volition.

Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream Ohh boy. Today was gonna be one of those day. Quinn only eyes the young man as he struggled to string together a sentence. As she let him speak, she could only hope he wasn’t this amazing at writing song lyrics too. She paused, texting a secretary that she needed a frappe immediately as she could no longer hold back the craving before locking eyes with Lance once more. Resting her chin in her palm she slowly grinned at the poor man. “Yes.” She began slowly, taking great care in enunciating every syllable. “Was I wrong to bring you hear Mr. Davidson?” the diva asked finding such surprise funny. “Are you perhaps implying that you’re absolute crap?” the diva inquired. Had he even known what his appointment had been for before he entered the studio? Whatever the case, he needed a little confidence lesson. Disbelief was not the way to sell yourself unless it was a music award or something to that effect. “You don’t really strike me as the humble kind of man.” The woman continued offhandedly, staring at her other hand’s nails for a moment. She would be correct in assuming that Lance was not a humble man. Upon being called crap, his feathers ruffled and he puffed up a bit.
"Of course I'm not crap," he replied with a bit of a frown, tensing up a little bit. "You've seen my stuff. You know I have what it takes."
And he did. He just wasn't used to being sought out and complimented. People always turned him away or called his sound shit. Or they hated his attitude. It was always something.

God, it looked like he was paying better attention now. “Don’t act so Bambi then.” She said letting out a laugh and waving off his bristling. She saw potential. She could help nurture that potential into something great. Also Lance had that bad boy look that was such an easy sell in this industry. Now, now. Even she had to admit to herself sometimes that having the right look had some weight when being scouted and she did her best to be aware of that when looking for new clients to sign into the label. While she didn’t like stars with ad attitudes she would give him the benefit of the doubt. “ I’m going to be straight with you kiddo. I’m considering sending your name up the chain for a demo and then a full time contract if you don’t blow it, but I gotta know if you’re up for it first. Also it’d be good if you gave me a brief and honest account on why you’re in music and if you have any criminal charges.” The last part quickly being tacked on as she spoke. She answered a brief text message from the intern that was grabbing her drink for her before setting her eyes back on him. She liked to believe she could judge people’s character pretty well but putting new stars on a sort of probation period was good too. Why was he in music? Because it was beautiful. It was art. It moved him and he wanted to show the world, make the world happy, stir up feelings within other people besides just himself. He wanted to share it with other people. Isn't that why musicians went into the industry?
As for criminal charges, he laughed. Nah, he didn't have any criminal charges and he told her all of this. He was honest, serious, and kept eye contact with her to prove it.
