Unblinking, the boy continued to gaze at him after the kiss had ended. It wasn't wrong, but at the same time it made him furious. Lukas gave him a timid, nasty look before pushing off and onto his feet. "My gig's in two more days," he muttered, "I don't think I need your help anymore." So what if he'd fallen for him? Wasn't that obvious? Especially after the other day, when--what he'd said, although he often said things like that when he'd reached his absolute limit. It's what'd gotten him into trouble before, after all.
The Lance said it, the way he looked at him. It seemed... painfully dismissive. He'd stopped before he could turn away, crossing his arms over his chest. "So what?" Lukas grumbled, glaring at the man's feet. "So fucking what? If I have?" Was it for the best, the worst? Did Lance not feel the same? The boy wanted to hear him say something, something along the lines of reciprocation. Or even being told to stick around would suffice. Just anything. Anything to know Lance still wanted him around, even if he felt this way.

So what, indeed.
The punk got up, glared at Lance with that familiar scowl. "Even if your gig is in two days, there's no way you can make anything on your own by just one gig." Lance was a realist. "You can still stay."
A hundred bucks, if even that much, wouldn't last the kid very long. He looked the type to spend it faster than he could count it.
Also.
"I didn't know you had a gig coming up." He perked a brow. "Why didn't you say anything?"

So what... indeed? The whole point of this arrangement was for him to scrounge some money together to pay off his mom's dealer. "I did." He replied, calmed enough that Lance told him to stay... but, of course, not satisfied that he wasn't grabbed or pulled down or anything. He needed to make up his mind. "I said I just needed to stick around until I got some money together." He pursed his lips. "If I just some him some money, then he'll probably leave me alone until I get some more." Besides, there wasn't any doubt in his mind his mom had already paid him by other means. It was useless, really.

Lance frowned, "And what if the money isn't enough? Or hell, what if it is? What then? You're just going to stay where you were? Where I picked you up from? Get all dirty and stay hungry all the time? Cut yourself to pieces?"
At least Lukas was acting and feeling like a real human being since he started staying with Lance. "You're wanting to go back to all that?"
Not once did he yell, but he did sound upset. There was a clipped tone to his voice, a dark scowl on his face.

What did Lance want from him? The boy was getting upset. It was a nice break from reality, but Lukas worried about his mother, his band... who was the realist now? He couldn't hide here forever, but the way Lance spoke like he cared really got under the punk's skin. It was so stupid. Of course he didn't want to be hungry, or dirty. His brows furrowed. He didn't want to go back to that, but what was he supposed to do? "NO!" He'd shouted, while Lance kept himself under check, Lukas was a mess. "NO!" He'd shouted again, at every pointed question until the man finished. He didn't want to be domesticated, either. The boy growled ferociously at the ceiling, stomping his foot.
"What the fuck do you want?! Just say it!" Lukas pointed at him, precisely at the center of his fucking face. "If you like me, too, just fucking say it instead of throwing it out there like that--I fucking hate that--you've fallen for me, too, haven't you?!" Lukas didn't know, but he wish he did. So, that's what his outburst was all about. He really did like Lance, and to think the man might not feel the same really tore him to pieces.
He bite his lower-lip. "... Right?"

He continued to scowl at him, through all the shouting and pointing and stomping, Lance stayed quiet and stared at the punk. The kid was still so stupid, not thinking things all the way through. Lance was still a realist.
"And you can't care for your mom and your band while living somewhere you'll feel safe sleeping at night?" His tone was condescending, irritated, but he had a point. He saw the neighborhood Lukas lived in and he wasn't about to let the boy wander off without knowing all possible options.
Then he was pointed at. Lance was called out and his eyebrows perked, eyes widening a little at the accusation. Things had gotten serious and he had been trying not to delve into it for as long as he could.
"It's... complicated," he replied, his expression now turned neutral and unreadable yet again.

"Ah," he said calmly. Complicated? Lukas stared off, wallowing in his muddy thoughts. So, Lance would have him stay here and grow closer, while he himself kept his reservations and 'complications.' He'd let Lukas fall in disasterous love, feeding his gluttonous flirtations, all while keeping himself available. Was it for him? The one he wrote songs for? If Lukas weren't so dumnfounded by his response, he would have already stormed out the door.
"Don't point out things, then, if you're not willing to admit them yourself. Idiot."

"Why not?" He asked, lifting a hand to comb through his long hair, tugging it to one side when he pulled those slender fingers away. "I never said no. I said it was complicated," over enunciating each syllable to that last word. His words were confusing, his feelings were, too. Lance was a tall glass of muddy water and he knew it. It wasn't Lance's fault that the boy let himself fall recklessly instead of staying in control of his feelings. Yet, all the same, Lance didn't want Lukas to leave. He patted the couch beside him. "Come sit with me."

Selfish. Lukas glared at him a moment longer, unconvinced but willing to join him on the sofa once again. "Bastard," he cooed, plopping his bony butt in the guy's lap. He still stared at him with a frown, though leaned in to take Lance's lips against his own. His fault? No. Not entirely. Lance let him lose control of it. He could have easily left him alone, but he chose to get involved. He chose this. And now he was scared? Lukas kissed him again. "Are you gonna come to my show?" He asked huskily, right against his ear.

He was selfish. He never had a reason where he didn't have to be. When Lukas got up onto his lap, Lance wrapped his arms around the boy's waist, letting them rest there. He kissed him in return, biting at the boy's lower lip. "I'll go if you want me to come," he replied, turning his head to get at the punk's lips again.
Lance wasn't responsible for Lukas' feelings. Only Lukas could be held responsible for those. He didn't have to fall for the goth. Friends with benefits was a thing, but perhaps the kid was too young to understand that?
