► mr. wright 301 notes | A week? It almost seemed too long but it would give him time to prepare and make sure he didn't fuck up his one chance at an audition so he supposed he'd work with it. "Sounds good to me!" he agreed with a thumbs up. He'd be counting the days down impatiently, but as tedious as the wait might be, it was better to be ready than to work last second and be completely unprepared (though he was confident he still would have made it work). He'd have to make a note of it in his non-existent schedule. As if he could really forget anyway.
He did forget about his tea though, the teen looking down to the glass that had been neglected the moment he realized who he was talking to. "Oh! Heh... Right." he smiled sheepishly before taking the glass and taking a good long drink. He got so excited he'd nearly forgotten where he even was. It wasn't as if he was prepared to find out Spectacles was more than just some older guy trying to hook up with some random singers. Fletcher just wasn't ready for such a huge reveal!
"So I ain't gonna like... get kicked out or something when I show up, am I?" he chuckled, probably sounding like a joke but it was a genuine concern. Not that he could blame them in retrospect, as he'd tried during a desperate attempt to get into another studio before and was swiftly kicked out by security. He did sort of come on too strong he supposed, but he'd calmed down over the years, gotten a bit more mature. As if! At least he got a look at their sweet set-up before he got the boot though!

"Good!" He exclaimed, clasping his hands together in delight. "Don't worry about it. You'll be put on a list. When you come in, just tell the receptionist who you are and you'll be directed to my office." It sounded easy enough, right? "Now, if you don't mind..."
Cyril pulled out a little notebook and a pen, opened it up to a page, and pushed them both towards the boy. "I'd like your name and number. I'll call you with the exact time once my assistant finalizes the plans. It shouldn't take longer than a day or two."

► mr. wright 281 notes | Oh good! It certainly sounded much easier than sneaking in and trying to come up with excuses when he was inevitably caught. But that was always the fun part, in his odd mind. Still, the easy way certainly wasn't bad and if he wanted to keep whatever impression he had right now, he supposed playing by the book a bit would be ideal. He didn't want to freak out the man too much. Then again, he seemed pretty casual considering their earlier conversation, so perhaps he really shouldn't worry too much.
With that concern out of the way, Fletcher was presented with a notepad and pen, asked to write down some contact info for Spectacles. The boy smirked playfully as he grabbed the pen, twirling it between his fingers. "Looks like you'll get that autograph after all!" he chuckled. Ah, perhaps he should have actually practiced. He didn't exactly have a fancy schmancy type of signature yet. But he'd worry about that later, writing down his name and adding his cell number beneath it. Once that was finished he pushed the items back across the table towards him. "There ya go!" Flea grinned. If it wasn't obvious, he was pretty fucking happy about this.
He could wait a couple days. Probably. It seemed like Cyril was serious about making this happen, but the nobody couldn't help but be a little nervous about the whole ordeal, no matter how confident he might have presented himself. This was a big thing to him and he'd hate to lose the chance to finally make something of himself. That would just be far too cruel for his little heart!

The good thing about Cyril was that he was a man of his word when it came to his work. If he said he was going to make an audition or a meeting happen, then it was going to happen (even if Tate did secretly wish to strangle his neck for it, surely).
As he took the pen and pad from the other, Cyril smiled once more, putting it away in his coat pocket. He laced his fingers together and rested his hands on the table, looking at the other for a few moments. The manager wondered: did this kid have what it takes to be a star? Was he good enough for the masses? Would they like him? He could only hope so. How exciting it would be for Cyril to be the man who helped this boy go from rags to riches.
"Do you have original songs already? Or do you just like to do covers so far?" His head tilted ever so slightly. "It's alright if you don't write your own music. A lot of musicians these days sing other peoples' writings." The way he said it, Cyril was almost snide.

► mr. wright 353 don't be rude, spectacles xD
| He hadn't missed the way Cyril spoke about those who relied on other people's words and part of him was a little worried to answer his question, despite the man assuring him it was fine. "Touchy subject?" he offered with a chuckle. He knew of people like that, finding the whole concept of singing other people's work, for lack of a better term, lame. He even had a similar mindset at one point. "Well I've tried before." he admitted, as if to make the actual answer a little more easy to take. While he wanted to certainly be himself around this man who made it clear he hated ass kissers, he still wanted to keep this deal solid. "But I'm not much of a writer." he explained simply, not caring to elaborate on how he figured that out. There were plenty of nights the young man had stayed up, smacking his forehead against his desk in an attempt to come up with words to an original song. Writing wasn't for everybody and he'd come to accept that fact.
"I've mostly been doing covers this whole time." No sense in lying about it. He'd find out at the audition anyway! There was one point when he was with a band who did have their own music, but they were thirteen at the time and he didn't figure lyrics about the struggles of a grounded teen who just wanted to play his video games would really appeal to the older gentleman. He chuckled at the thought.
"I'm willing to learn though." he went on to say. Not that he was sure writing music was something that could necessarily be taught, but he always wanted to do it. He just lacked the mental capacity to do so and often lost focus required to sit down for hours. It was probably why he failed a lot in high school. But if that was what was needed in the music industry, he was a determined little fucker who'd make it happen.

"Not necessarily a touchy subject. It's only touchy when the musician is lazy," the manager went on to explain. "It's true that there are some people out there who aren't all that great at writing their own songs, but there's nothing wrong with a little collaboration every now and again." Cyril hated lazy musicians with a fiery passion.
At least Fletcher was willing to learn. That was very important for Cyril to hear. "Wonderful! I like your attitude," he went on to say. "As long as a person is willing to try, they can't ever be stopped."
Cyril was all about passion.
"Do you agree?"

► mr. wright 250 stubborn asses unite! | Yep. A touchy subject. Flea snickered at the thought though was glad he didn't seem to be trying to go for his throat, which was always good. He was winning this guy over without even trying and it would have been a shame for him to lose it all just because he couldn't write a song! He'd like to think he wasn't lazy though. In fact he worked pretty hard to get where he was. It might have not seemed like a whole lot of progress, especially since he was still a nobody and before now had a hard time getting any attention from anyone, but he was getting there and this encounter just proved it, making him even more excited for the future. He was on his way!
That was a first though. Liking his attitude. Most people found him absolutely annoying, even unbearable (which he was perfectly fine with) so this was certainly a surprise to hear. He liked the fact someone could recognize his awesomeness for a change! And it seemed they also had a pretty similar mindset which made Fletcher like Spectacles even more.
"Completely!" he agreed with a big smile. His whole journey up to this point was a testament to that. He'd been told plenty of times he couldn't do something, that he should give up, but he was far too stubborn to ever listen. He was going to be certain to rub his impending success in all the naysayers faces.

And Cyril would definitely help Fletcher to rub that success in all those naysayers' faces. Because Cyril wanted to prove people wrong, too. He wanted to show all those people that hard work does get you somewhere. Just look at all the little people he found and helped to grow up so big! It was all the proof people needed. Everything else was up to them.
He loved picking up projects, moulding them into new creations. It was a lot of fun for him and really, that's what his position was all about, right?
With that all said, he stood from his seat and held out his hand for a shake. "Well, Fletcher, I must be heading off, for I am a busy man with a tight schedule. But I will see you in a week and if you impress me enough, I might take you out for a celebratory dinner." The man laughed, his eyes smiling with him.

► mr. wright 207 i'm still amazed this lasted three pages lol | Time to go? Appeared so as Cyril had stood up and held out a hand towards him, announcing he needed to move on to other matters. Flea was almost saddened by this, not really wanting him to leave just yet. If he left there was a chance he'd never see him again, his chance thrown out the window. Yeah, a bit of an exaggeration probably, but anxiety was a funny thing. Still, he wasn't going to hold the man hostage and would let him go for now. Besides, he needed to work on preparing himself! So perhaps it was a good thing that they part now.
Fletcher sat up enough to shake the man's hand, smirking whenever he held out an offer for dinner. "I'll be counting on it." he replied with a wink, already quite confident he'd be able to impress. He hadn't even been trying today! It ought to be a piece of cake! He hoped. He also hoped this dinner would be top notch thanks to the man surely being of the upper class. Lobster? Yes. Though Fletcher would be content with a good burger too.
"See you in a week!" he smiled, he already couldn't wait!
