► mr. wright 391 have i mentioned this is my first time writing a character singing??? ♫ | Finally! A gig that actually seemed promising! Sure, he kind of had to beg a bit and really only got a small time frame to work with, but he got the job at the Day N Nite club which was a pretty good venue as far as he knew, better than the cheap bars he was usually lucky to even have a chance in.
There weren't very many people, of course, still being rather early in the Day part of business hours, but still, he wouldn't complain. An opportunity was an opportunity and even if he didn't really get the attention he was looking for, he could at least say he'd have some money to eat on for another week or so, which was always a plus, right? Right! He sort of wished it wasn't so early though, mostly because the young man hardly ever woke up before noon. He was still trying to rub the sand out of his eyes as he worked on getting this shit started.
After getting himself set up on the stage, seated on a stool with his guitar in his lap, Flea smiled out to the small crowd, not concerned that half of them weren't even really paying attention. "What's up?" he began. "I'm Mr. Wright and I'm here to wake you fuckers up." he smirked playfully before he gave a little strum on his guitar. He wouldn't play anything crazy, not right now anyway. No sex or drugs since there weren't too many young folk out here this early (and he didn't want to get kicked out), so he decided to limit himself to something simple, finding the melody in his head and onto the strings before he finally started singing. "I met a man of two feet tall, this man was quite ambitious in a world that is so vicious to us all.."
"You're only as tall as your heart will let you be and you're only as small as the world will make you seem. And when the going get's rough, and you feel like you feel like you may fall, just look on the brightside, you're roughly six feet tall!" It was definitely one of the more tame songs he listened to, the teen always finding it quite catchy. It sort of fit his optimistic personality too.

The man didn't always find himself in bars, but he quite enjoyed the little lounge that the Day N Nite turned into during the morning hours. Cyril liked the acoustic music that played, the idle chatter that filled the room. It was a nice place to be before he went into work or when he needed himself a 5 o'clock break.
As he sat there at his table, he heard the boy. His intro didn't match his song, but he liked the sound. He was interesting, but he seemed to be a little confused on what it was he was trying to portray himself as. Cyril laughed, finding it to be cute, honestly. At least the kid was trying and that was more than most people in the industry could say about themselves a lot of the time.
The man waited, watching as the boy sang his tune to the people of the lounge. He rested his chin in a hand, elbow on the table, legs crossed. It was his general position when sitting and observing.
Song after song, the man listed intently until he couldn't wait any longer. He looked straight at the kid when he was sure they'd made eye contact and lifted a hand, motioning for him to come over to his table. A gentle grin was on his face, inviting him further.

► mr. wright 424 notes | Song after song, Fletcher continued to sing and play his guitar, choosing songs that were similar to the soothing ones before. In fact if he wasn't careful, he'd end up putting himself to sleep, further making his introduction even more flawed. He managed to keep awake though, his fingers moving along the neck of the instrument expertly as he focused on the music and almost let himself get lost in it. Almost.
The crowd didn't appear to be hating the music, but they were also going about their own business, letting his performance take the back burner as background music as they continued to chat or drink. All except one guy who he'd managed to make eye contact with. His brow quirked as he continued to sing, watching as the man motioned him over. He didn't know what exactly was going on, but decided to wait until the song ended before finding out, which didn't take long as he was on the last chorus by time he'd notice the older gentleman watching him.
As the singing finally came to an end, Fletcher realized he actually did go a bit over his time limit and realized that regardless of whether he wanted to stop now or not was irrelevant. "I'm gonna have to cut it here, folks. You guy's are beautiful! Especially you, ya big lug." he winked, pointing to the bartender who looked rather unamused. Hardly dampened his spirits though! "Thanks for having me." he finished with a big grin before hopping off the stool.
He still didn't know what exactly the fellow wanted, but decided it couldn't hurt to find out. Once he'd situated himself and gathered his guitar, he made his way over to the table, offering a simple wave in greeting. "Sup?" No seriously, he didn't usually get pulled aside like this unless he was in trouble for something. The guy didn't look like a cop, but what did he know? In the off chance this guy was a cop, Fletcher of course brought up the most important thing in this situation. "Take it you're a fan?" he smirked playfully. Oh yes, he had to make sure if this guy liked his talent. That would surely deter him from taking him downtown! "I'm afraid I don't have a pen on me at the moment so I wont be able to sign any autographs." he chuckled. You'd think he'd be prepared for these sort of things!

Positive! That's what Cyril liked to see. As the boy got off stage and walked over, he never took his eyes off him. He barely even moved except to motion towards the chair that was situated across from him. That's how he liked things. Face-to-face; never side-by-side.
He hummed as the boy spoke. Must be nervous, he thought. "I've actually never heard of you until just now. Looks like I picked the right day to step in."
Gentle words, calm eyes, a warm smile. Cyril was very kind.
"What's your name?"

► mr. wright 342 i dub thee spectacles! | As the seat across the table from the man was motioned to, Fletcher decided not to reject an offer and sat himself down, letting his guitar rest on the floor next to him, holding the neck of it to keep it sturdy as he listened to the fellow speak. Unsurprisingly, he had no idea who he was.
"I get that a lot." he admitted with a shrug, not seeming to be bothered by it too much. The way he saw it, now the guy knew and there was another chance his name might get out there! Even better that the man seemed to actually like him. He grinned at the thought. "In that case I'll take it as a compliment." he snorted in amusement, leaning back and relaxing now that he didn't appear to be in any trouble. Good thing too cause he didn't exactly remember what he was in trouble for. He lost track sometimes!
It was then his name was requested, the bright eyed young man surprised by the interest. He didn't usually go this far. Usually people would just tell him his music was good, maybe give him a tip or something and be on there way. Then again, people didn't usually invite him over in the middle of a set either so he supposed he shouldn't be too surprised, deciding not to think too much into it. "Fletcher Wright! But you can call me Flea." he smirked, already waiting for the confused look. Yes, Flea was an odd nickname, especially for someone to offer with pride. It was actually a nickname he'd been given in teasing when he was a child. Rather than feel upset about it though, Fletcher had the 'can't beat them, join them' mentality and started using it himself. The kids ended up stopping after that but it was clearly far too late.
"How about you? Otherwise I'll just call you Spectacles." he stated, chuckling. Spectacles had a pretty nice smile he realized. Seemed like a pretty alright guy so far!

Flea, huh? How interesting. Was he a pest? Did he suck the life out of people? It was a very foreboding nickname. Either way, Cyril put it out of his mind for now.
"I'll call you Fletcher, if that's alright," he went on to say.
The kid seemed humble, but first impressions meant everything. Perhaps he knew this? Cyril had so many stereotypical interview questions to ask, but he didn't want the encounter to present itself as what it was, yet.
"My name is Cyril," he replied, keeping his last name a secret for the moment. "So you really seem to like the indie sound?"
About that time a waiter came around and wanted to give them refreshments, seeing how long it had been since Cyril last requested something. He ordered himself a mineral water, then asked if the other would like something as well. "Don't worry; I'll pay for it. Consider it a tip."

► mr. wright 392 notes | He couldn't say he was too surprised that the man wanted to call him by his actual name instead, which was why he wasn't too bothered. "Whatever floats your boat!" he smiled. He could call him whatever he wanted, Fletcher could really care less. There were far more important things to worry about, after all. He was only slightly disappointed whenever he offered his name instead, the nickname he'd already given to him just seconds ago having managed to grow on him. He'd just refer to the man as that on his own time, trying not to fuck himself over. It wasn't every day he got to sit around and chat with someone who was interested in his music.
Despite not getting the chance to call Spectacles, Spectacles, he did find himself oddly stumped by the name for some reason. It was an uncommon name, sure, but that just made him question why it seemed so familiar. After thinking about it for some time, he decided to give up on it, especially since Cyril was asking questions now.
"More or less." he smiled. "At least, that's my specialty." He'd tried messing with other genres but couldn't exactly stick to them. Besides, indie was cool in it's own right. It might not be that popular but then again, neither was he. It just seemed like the perfect match! But it didn't help him get out there anymore easier.
When drinks were brought up, Flea was about to dismiss it, not really having the money on him at the moment. Actually he needed to talk to the manager here about his payment since they insisted he had to wait until after the show before he could receive payment. Fortunately, Cyril came to the rescue, explaining that it would be his tip. "Sweet!" he grinned before deciding what he wanted. He was half tempted to get himself an actual drink, but decided against it, going for a simple sweet tea instead. With that out of the way, Fletcher returned his attention to the kind fellow, deciding to ask a question himself this time.
"You a big music fan?" he questioned with a smile. It seemed rather obvious since he had come to the conclusion that Mr. Wright's genre was indie, but he didn't realize how involved in music the other man was.

The orders were placed and soon the two were alone once again. He smiled at being asked the question, letting out a soft chuckle as he nodded in reply. "One could say that I am, yes."
Not only was he a manager of a musical studio, but he was also very particular and picky about what types of music he liked to listen to. His favorites were instrumentals, classical, jazz and calm sounds, though he also liked rock and Broadway.
Cyril told the kid as much, taking a sip of his drink once it reached the table. Fletcher's sweet tea was placed before him as well and he smiled again at that, too.
"I love most things beautiful, really," he went on to say, setting his glass down onto the little coaster provided. "Do you like art? Or is it just music you enjoy?"

► mr. wright 435 welp. he was going to pull something eventually | Well it was a yes or no question but he'd take the answer as a more elaborate (but still somehow vague) yes. He nodded at this before grabbing his drink and taking a good long sip. He really needed to start bringing a bottle of water with him to these gigs. He got thirsty pretty quick when he was singing.
As much as he'd like to have more job opportunities, he was probably fortunate they weren't so frequent for the simple fact that he'd probably lose his voice on a regular basis considering how much he neglected those pipes of his. He was starting to get better. More professional, if you will, by warming up his voice before these sort of sessions. But he still had a tendency to overdo it.
A brow rose in questioning when the next question was presented, not knowing where that had come from. "Like art-art or art?" he shot back, as if there was any obvious difference between the two. If the man had meant the more serious art that belonged in galleries or anything, not really. He could appreciate it but it took deep thought that his short attention span self couldn't keep up with. He did enjoy the more casual arts though, namely comics but that still counted as far as he was concerned. He even doodled from time to time but it was never really gallery worthy, his talents belonging in music rather than with pen and paper.
"Probably not to your extent, I imagine, but art is pretty cool, even if I can't understand it most of the time." he admitted, scratching the back of his head with a sheepish smile. "It's mostly music though, not counting the gaming and other shenanigans I do on the side." he explained, taking another drink of the tea. It felt good on his throat.
"Not that I mind..." he began, deciding to bring up something that had been on his mind. "But did you really just call me over for a chat?" he asked with a tilt of his head, looking like a confused puppy. This was the longest conversation he'd held with a stranger ever since he'd moved to Canada. It just seemed rather strange and he couldn't shake the feeling that something was up. "You aren't trying to sleep with me, are you?" he questioned jokingly with a devious grin. Well it wouldn't have been the first time he'd been hit on, but he was quite certain that wasn't the case here. Well... he didn't think so, anyway.

He nodded in reply to the arts discussion, taking a sip of his water. There was no real reason as to why Cyril asked the arts question, or tried to get to know the boy better, than to avoid the conversation sounding like an interview. He wanted it to be casual, to be friendly.
His eyebrow quirked when Fletcher mentioned being hit on. And though the kid was rather attractive, this conversation wasn't about that. Cyril hadn't even thought about that.
However, the man smirked. He was amused, no doubt. "And what if it was?" He asked, curious. "Are you going to get upset with me? Turn me down? Say you're not interested?"
If the boy knew who the man was, honestly he wouldn't be surprised if he changed his mind. Cyril was a little full of himself, but he didn't lead onto that. The man kept himself looking humble.
