Together, they returned from the beach later that evening. Lukas had slept most of the way back to Lance's apartment, so after they ate and watched television the kid wasn't as tired as the older male. Laying with him anyway, Lukas was content in his arms. The lull of the other's soft snores would eventually put him to sleep, but in the mean time he just watched Lance rest. Once he felt it, Lukas didn't fight to stay awake.
When he awoke, Lance was gone. The kid stretched, rolling onto his other side as he inhaled a deep breath. What time was it? It was probably well into the afternoon, he could just feel it. Something about the air, the warmth. Or maybe it was that he slept in his jeans? Woozily, Lukas sat up and glared at the door ahead of him. If he looked grumpy, he was...
Where was the food?
He didn't smell anything, except his faint odor mixed with all of Lance. Ah, well, no point getting up, then... he plopped back down, rubbing his face into the pillow to get the drool off. The plan would have been to sleep more, but he couldn't make it happen. His mind wandered too much, soon too curious to stay in bed. Where was Lance, anyway?
Lukas threw the blanket off in a flurry and stumbled out into the livingroom. Really, there weren't many places he could be hiding... this apartment wasn't exactly big. He hummed, hanging back to check the bathroom. Empty. What the fuck? Did he just fucking leave without telling him anything? Ok, maybe there was a note somewhere.
It wasn't that he ever left notes, or his mom ever left notes when they left the house, but maybe Lance was the sort to leave notes. Lukas wasn't surprised to find anything in the kitchen, either. Eyes peered at the trash can, all the more frustrated to find a new wrapper sitting on the top. So... he had eaten, too... without Lukas?
"Bastard..."
Now he was getting mad. This was ridiculous. With a growl, there was only one place left to check... he stalked a few steps over to the laundry. Scowling, he gave the guy a once over, arms thrown crossed over his own chest. "Well, good-fucking-morning," the boy grumbled bitterly, noting the folded towels sitting on top of the dryer.
"What the fuck, why didn't you wake me up?" His scowl turned pitiful, unaware he had slept like a goddamn log. If anything, he was just upset he didn't get fed, too. Lukas groaned softly, reaching over to help take the towels to the bathroom. While he managed to grab the bundle, the one on bottom fell. And as he attempted to pick it up, the one on top fell, too.
Lukas blinked. "Ff--... piece of shit..." he growled quietly beneath his breath.

Indeed, the whole time he was in the laundry room folding towels. It wasn't like he was going out of his way to be so quiet he disappeared. Lance was just normally a quiet person when he was alone. He perked a brow at the pouting boy, looking him over as he took in the unpleasant sight of his scowl and overall irritated demeanor. Why the hell was he so fucking upset?
Lance just stared at him more when his internal question was answered. "You were sleeping so well. I'd felt bad waking you up...' He blinked in almost complete disbelief. Was Lukas honestly that upset at him for having let him sleep in? "You don't get to sleep much, right? I did give you a little nudge, but you wouldn't have any of it. So I just let you sleep and decided to clean up the apartment."
He shrugged as he folded another towel, then Lukas reached for the pile. He let him, but let out a soft sigh as he watched his clean laundry fall to the floor. One by one, each towel landed in a slumpy pile on the linoleum floor. He paused what he was doing and bent down to pick them up and refold them again. "I have cereal if you'd rather eat something instead." He was trying to be nice, yet also get the kid out of his hair without actually saying he was causing more trouble than helping.

Why was he upset? He didn't necessarily care that Lance let him sleep, since it was true he didn't get to sleep often. Lukas just wanted something to complain about, always grumpy in the mornings. "A little nudge..." He had clicked his tongue, repeating the other bitterly. What? Was his floor not clean enough? Eventually, the whole stack had fallen out of his arms. He set it down and helped re-fold some of it, but his head lifted at the mention of cereal.
Lukas smirked, aware of what he was doing. After he had the decency to help clean his mess... and still, he would have taken it to the bathroom. Well. Forgive him for being drowsy, you see... he slept in too late. Wonder who's fault that was.... The towels he held in his arms? He had a smile on his face as he let them drop in a neat stack on the floor. "Actually, yeah," he said, that lazy, slumped saunter of his as he strolled back to the kitchen.
And you can bet he made all sorts of noise, though tried not to slam things or, essentially hurt, any of Lance's things. He found the cereal, found the milk... but a bowl? "Why do you have to be so fucking tall?!" Lukas jumped, but the last bowl was in the way back of the cabinet, on the second shelf. He grumbled, clamoring as he scaled the counter to reach it.

What the actual fuck crawled up this kid's ass and died? Lance frowned when Lukas willingly dropped the towels to the floor and he let out a gruff sigh as he bent down to pick that pile up, too. At least it hadn't caused those towels to become unfolded.
All the racket in the kitchen was ignored as Lance refolded things and headed towards the bathroom to put the towels away, though on his way, he saw Lukas trying to climb up onto the counter. He stopped and watched. It wasn't his fault the kid was so short. "You'll fall doing that," he stated with no real urgency behind the words.

It wasn't a big deal, the floor didn't even look that dirty. Lance was being such a pussy. When he came to the kitchen, Lukas had already lifted himself up. Standing on his knees, he looked back over his shoulder. "Huh? Can't hear you from up here," he smirked, taking down the bowl. After he hopped down, the kid looked up at Lance triumphantly. So what if he got hurt? It's not like a fall from there would kill him.
"What did you say? I couldn't hear you." He snickered, pouring the cereal and milk. Whatever splashed over, he would swipe it into his hand and put it back in the bowl. The kid didn't really believe in wasting things, he was the sort to eat things off the floor after wiping it off just a bit. While he was aware of bacteria and all that... eh, as stated, he didn't think it'd kill him.
In any case, he leaned closer to Lance with a moutful. Milk dripped from the corner of his lips, making sure to chew nice and loud for him.

He secretly wished the kid would've slipped and hit his head or something. Knock some manners in there somewhere. Lance just stood there and watched, looking unimpressed as always.
When Lukas chewed his cereal nice and loud, Lance just rolled his eyes and walked away towards the bathroom so he could put away the towels where they belonged. Eat that cereal nice and loud while you can you little shit because when you're done, you're washing the dishes, Lance thought to himself as he walked over to the couch to take a seat. He assumed the boy would follow him.
He thought about turning the tv on, but instead reached over and flipped on the radio. It was raining outside, cloudy and grey, making the day seem later than it actually was from the darkness looming over everything. Perfect weather for the radio and open blinds.

On the contrary, when Lance went off to put away the clean towels, Lukas with all his independence had already sat himself on the couch. At the end, he leaned into the corner and folded his legs. It seemed so quiet. Assuming he'd finished in the bathroom, as soon as Lance returned he went back to loudly chewing his cereal. It occurred to him Lance might just get the idea this was how he ate cereal... it crossed his mind to behave, but what fun was that? He liked to get on the guy's nerves. A harmless way of testing his patience.
The radio droned, music softly playing through static. It was so calming, Lukas hadn't even noticed he had adjusted to the gentle sounds by chewing normally. Daylight kept the room from turning pitch-black, but the ongoing storm cast a translucent veil over the room. Like they were in a cavern or den, it made the room feel smaller. Intimately cozy. Lukas paused, waiting for Lance to sit down after popping open the blinds. Then, once seated, he wiggled over and waited to be accepted under his arm.

Lukas might not have noticed, but Lance had. The boy had been such a bratty menace, but now he wanted love? How irritating, but Lance gave it to him anyway. He lifted his arm and wrapped it around the little punk, tugging him closer as he relaxed and listened to the radio, watched the rain out the window. It beaded, rolled down the glass pane. "Why do you want to be near me?"

Now, how could he expect Lukas to learn anything if he gave in so easily? With a little smile, he snuggled up to him. The bowl had been set down in favor of getting comfortable, tangled up in himself and his face buried in the other's chest. He'd mostly finished it, anyway. Possibly a bite or two left when he exchanged food for affection.
Thunder rumbled. Lukas stared sleepily at his bowl, eyes tracing the contours that made up its shape. "I like you," he stated softly, exhaling as he buried his face again. "Why not?"

It was so different, so shocking. Lukas was who he was, but he wasn't shy about knowing what he wanted, what he liked, what he desired. It was so foreign to Lance. He turned to look at the younger musician, odd-eyes looking the boy over, taking in his facial features, the color of his hair and its length. Lance reached up and let his fingers graze lightly along the side of Lukas' face. Lance's chest ached as he sat there and examined why he liked the boy to be there.
"I like you, too," he replied. "You're so honest with me... You don't hide it. You make it so obvious and I just..." He paused for a moment, thinking hard on this whole thing. "I think I need that right now."
