[googlefont="PT Serif"] "wait – you're sixteen?" for a moment, he looks concerned, as if this may be a problem. he cocks his head and squints – he figures, under all the make up, she probably looks that young. he links arms with renee and leads her towards the door, around the red-roped line and straight for the door.
angel knows all the bouncers by name – he wears renee like an accessory as he chats this one up, his laughter shrill and his free hand animating his words, fluttering against the bouncer's chest. they slip past simply, and angel leads her down a narrow hall and up a staircase, down more narrower, winding halls that open out onto the club. the dance floor is packed with people, but angel makes a beeline for the bar– he's released renee and doesn't look back to see if she follows, his hair a shimmering neon wake.
he's the one who'd insisted on her coming along (you're not just going to go home are you?) but he needs a few drinks in him before he can stand any more of her. he needs a few drinks, and she'll have gone from coworker to best friend.

shoot him again cause i can see his soul dancing i'm gonna miss this place if you give it to me i'll give it back much harder angel is so unlike anyone she'd ever met (and probably will ever meet). a fury of wind and glitter that hurts more than just open eyes. so she hangs on the heels of his every word; fact that he can walk in them better than she could ever doesn't help at all. already renee feels like he'd zap her into a watery pool of pleasure and despair, and doesn't know which is better. she'd only ever known one or the other. so she hangs on his arm like a rag-doll in a too short dress and a blank. empty spot in her head is squeezed dry and leaves its compact shape. she barely has enough time to even mouth words intended for the bouncers angel eagerly chats to before being hurled into a nauseatingly dim, but extremely loud... club. lost and disorientated, now that her steps weren't backed by angel's confident march, renee is forced to maneuver carefully to angel's side much like a little duckling getting to grips on how to waddle properly. but grace doesn't include waddling, so she can't pretend that it's intentional. maman never raised a graceless hick and wouldn't care to see one.

[googlefont="PT Serif"] with an easy smile, he drapes his forearms over the bar and raps his nails against the sleek counter - again, the bartenders he calls over by name. angel doesn't look at renee straight on, but she's a pink blur in his periphery - he orders a long island iced tea, chats while the bartender mixes.
fingers curled around the glass, he turns to renee. "what do you want?" he says shrilly, only to be heard over the din.
