You're an agent and the goddamned best in the industry. You've been working this job for years and you know the ins and outs of this line of work like the back of your hand. You know how to outwit the slimiest record companies, make the perpetual children you work with sing, catch any curve ball the industry throws your way, and throw a few curve balls of your own.

You're like a fish in water; this job is you in your element. You like to think that you excel in every aspect of it -- whether it be separating your personal from your business life, finding the best record opportunities for your clients, or jumping through hoops to make sure everyone is happy (after all, you are a people pleaser) -- you're willing to (and probably have) done it all.[break][break]


Of course, if you weren't married to your career you would have noticed your life is slipping right through your hands.

You're turning thirty-five soon, and you haven't so much as allowed yourself to have a day off in over two years. The last time you went to a bar was probably back when you had to bat your pretty eyelashes at the bouncer so he wouldn't ask for your ID, and the last time you actually had a group of friends to actually go to the bar with was probably around the same time. You're social life is down the drain, and any time you spend outside of work reminds you that you are, indeed, very much alone.

You're worried that being so dedicated to your job has stunted any kind of personal growth that most people go through throughout life. You haven't settled down yet, gotten married, had kids; and you're terrified that you're running out of time. Your best solution to avoid this problem instead of facing it head on is to surround yourself in even more work, which, of course, throws you into a vicious cycle.

While your outer demeanour as an agent is cool, calm, and professional, your inner demons are chaotic and you're worried you're reaching the end of your rope. You still struggle as much as you pretend that you don't, but in an industry where weakness is chewed-up and spat back out in the blink of an eye, you stay strong. You still work like a machine, and you still remind yourself that you're the greatest agent this goddamned city has. You're not one to give-up as soon as the going gets tough, so like hell you're going to roll over because of this little issue. [break][break]Or, at least, that's what you keep telling yourself.
