tinny rattling, polyurethane grinding against linoleum—a obnoxious squeal at a turn. jonah cringes, the noise grating on his eardrums. even the din of conversation can’t mask it. just abandon it, find another. there’s bound to be one abandoned. boxes of cheerios, bags of frozen veggies, canned goods fill his arms. juice tucks away in the crook of his elbow. constant juggling keeps his burden off the floor, his progress impeded. “i’m glad i didn’t grab eggs.” he chuckles, speaking to himself. william had been eyeing the white haired neighbour of his for quite some time now, trailing slowly behind him with falsely pensive footsteps out of boredom and convenience (the man's path corresponded with his own snack track) right up to the point where he ditches the squeaky death trap and starts piling everything in his arms. henceforth walking like a yeti. william is an ever so good and friendly neighbour after all. it takes him a quarter of a moment to deem the occasion a well fit for his intent in pursuing greater neighbourly relations. therefore, he slouches at his trolley, he moves right next to him, a lazy arm curling around the man's shoulder to tap on it. once. twice. thirce. his objective is the box of cheerios, and like a dog on a cat, he doesn't let his line of sight waver even for a moment. "i got eggs good neighbour, i'll swap ya?" adapting a cartoon accent, his grin reaches his eyes, ever so slightly unnerving. JONAH STERLING

the last box, a sale. he clutches it to him as best he can with arms full. damage to the box, the bag, could compromise his future breakfast. but a kind soul comes to his rescue, eyes on the cheerios. fluorescent glow, a halo of light circles the cart. his savior. "i don't need eggs but if you lend me space in your cart, the cheerios are all yours." WILLIAM HURST
