> you, me, a bottle of clos du val?she's been so busy. recording, promotions, appearances ('we need to make you look part of wolfgang', as her manager insisted). she's been so busy - a moment to collect herself is all she needs. arms around her waist, is all she needs. she texts magali out of selfishness (doesn't everyone deserve to be selfish, sometimes?), though she tells herself it's for the two of them - they've barely seen one another the past week. candles would be overkill, but she throws together a rich stir fry, rushing between the table and the kitchen when she knocks over the wine with an elbow. she knows magali won't really care, she knows it's not a big deal, but that doesn't stop her from having to bite back tears as she picks broken glass and mops up wine - she snatches the hand towel from the oven. this was a bad idea - she should have just stayed home, drank the bottle herself, not bothered. she's been too ambitious after this exhausting week. violetta doesn't get much warning - she almost forgets that she's given magali the key to her place until she hears the door unlatch. > I'll be there after workit's been a little under a week since the last time they talked, face to face, and a little over twenty hours since the last time they texted. (she'd been playing with the software and a few samples, continuing the idling conversation every few minutes on the side. when ponderous boredom rolled through, and she got up to practice a few arpeggios instead, her phone remained with three unread messages, balanced precariously on the edge of the couch cushion.) it isn't a tug-of-war. the lapses in-between chats and dates are ideal for both parties: violetta is busy, magali has room to breathe. she's unlocking the door, grocery bag hanging off the crook of her elbow. magali nudges the door open, then closed. the table's set for two, and something good's simmering in the kitchen. "hey, vi? so i brought—" she halts in the entryway of the kitchen, takes the scene in stride. "here, let me help." @violetta

her chest feels tight with stress, as if it'll burst, when she hears magali entering. when she glances over her shoulder, she feels the tension dissolve a little. sitting back on her haunches. "i got most of it." she feels tired already, but she stands up, wrings the towel out in the sink and rinses her hands. the floor is still sticky. she hasn't finished cleaning her mess. "just... step around it." she says vaguely, crossing the kitchen to tangle loosely in a hug, to peck magali on the lips, taking the grocery bag from her arm when she pulls back. "how have you been?"MAGALI ZOHAR

she can't easily brush off, like violetta suggests, the wine streaks still left on the kitchen tiles, a stray shard of dark glass; even enveloped into an embrace magali's faintly distracted by the unsightly wet spot, gaze flickering down to it over violetta's shoulder. somehow it bothers her. it's a mess that doesn't belong in their domestic scene, and she itches to finish the job of obliterating it. but she leans into the greeting kiss nonetheless, eyelids shuttering, and smiles fondly at her girlfriend. "a bit busy, but you've had it worse." magali drifts past violetta, to the sink, picks up the damp stained towel and begins to wash it clean. "it'll get sticky if it dries," she explains. @violetta

violetta only shrugs – she feels like she's been cleaning messes so thoroughly, all her life, that she's hasn't the time to do anything else. (or maybe its distracting her from the puddle seeping into her own shoes) she didn't invite magali over to do housework – "i can get it lat—" – but she's already started on it, and violetta takes up a spot by stove to stir the food. she watches magali from the corner of her eye as if to reaffirm that she's really here, that she might disappear if she looks away to long. "yeah, this week's been busy. i'm getting a lot done, though. i feel like i'm getting a lot off my chest." she doesn't really bother with the sentimentalities that they both agree are best left unsaid, or saved for something special. "that's good then," magali responds without taking her gaze away from the task at hand. she twists the dishtowel to distill the last drop of wine, soaks it under the tap. with efficient motions she hunches down over the spill and erases it completely. any lingering shards of glass are carried from the towel to the trash can, the towel's re-washed and dried. finally satisfied, magali hangs it on the oven handle and moves over to watch violetta cook. their hips bump, side by side. "the food looks really nice," she murmurs. "didn't you mention you were collaborating with someone in the studio this week? how was it?" @violetta

mag's solid form against hers is comforting - violetta wants to melt into her, she wants to seep into her like hot wax and take her shape. sometimes she gets the feeling she wants to be magali more than she wants to love her. orderly and practical, confident (but some might say the same about violetta). she smiles. "this sounds like an interview." she mumbles, tilting her head to press her lips against magali's neck, to whisper the words into her skin. she rests like this for a moment, then with clearer eyes turns back to the work at hand. "but it was good, lots of new things." she answers, not looking back at her as she dishes the food onto their plates, carries them to the table. MAGALI ZOHAR
