she decides to finally, take jonah up on his offer. because she's sopping wet and so is her mcdonalds - her coke is probably diluted in the rain - and his place is closer. she's irritable, stomping up the steps (does this place even have an elevator), and she opens the door with a bang. it hits the door and nearly rebounds back into her face, karin stops it with a boot. "hey, jonah?"TATE OWENS JONAH STERLING???

only half-awake, he's shuffling out into the living room, when the sudden bang, amplified in the morning's stillness, startles him into ringing consciousness. on instinct, one hand shoots out to grip the bedroom doorframe. the other stops rubbing at watery eyes and drops so that he can seek out the noise's source. his gaze glosses over the photographs filling the walls without really seeing them, focuses blearily on the front door. "um, hello?" tate calls out tentatively. the realization dawns that his legs are cold. he thought only to find his boxers and clumsily do up half the buttons of a dress shirt. nervously, tate draws back, considers slipping back into the bedroom unnoticed.

curtains drawn over bedroom windows, not enough light filtering through the gaps. the perfect excuse to sleep in.
he could have slept the morning away had a bang not resounded through the house. blankets fall from his shoulders to the ground. cold air. he pulls on his boxers, a robe. leaves behind his warm bed, sleep still having hold over his mind. he forgets he had a guest over until he walks into him, backing into the bedroom.
"tate?" he mumbled through a yawn. "was that you?"

in the watery light of morning, everything is bright and blurred, or perhaps her vision is going askew from lack of sleep. but karin's attention catches quickly on the man standing in half dressed on the threshold of living room and bedroom, and even quicker to latch onto who he is. she lets out a wolf whistle in reply. karin wonders if she should call to attention the wallfull of pictures, and her in her staring, probably does just that. a warm body catches his. tate stops, unconsciously leans back against the slightly taller man. "no, it's—" the whistle cuts through the rest of his whispered reply and prompts him of the visitor's presence. she's noticed him, and undoubtedly their relationship. a hot flush is quick to catch like wildfire over his cheeks as he falls silent and determinedly looks away. at the furniture—scant and utilitarian—and then the photographs, overflowing. the moment of recognition that the subject of every picture is him is not so much earth-shattering as gravity-defying. tate thinks this must be a dream. his head feels faint, light, rising.

arms loop lazily around the half-naked man leaning against him. tate's shoulder is inviting, a perfect place to rest his head on. his cheek presses against the curve of tate's neck, arms tighten. he lifts his sleep heavy eyes to the whistling girl. his sister. a smile pulls at his lips, lopsided.
"good morning karin." eyes rake over her sopping figure. "you're soaked. did you forget an umbrella? want a towel?"
