Mikah grew up with Lukas and Teddy, going to thrash out in Teddy's grandmother's garage. He always wanted to be a part of a garage band, daydreaming of when he'd hit it big. He could add his name to the list of bands who also started out in a garage. It would be so cool.

With Taiwanese parents, Mikah was expected to be very successful. He had bass lessons (because other string instruments were lame), he was in honor classes, he went to calligraphy classes, but Mikah only really liked his bass lessons. His parents let him listen to whatever he wanted, but he wasn't supposed to be working towards being in a band. He would lie to go practice with his friends because neither his mother or father liked them. If they knew what they actually did, they would've keeled over.

Eventually they did find out and refused to help him succeed if he was going to go against them. Punk music was wild and reckless and they didn't want a son who was also those very things. In rebellion, he bleached his hair and he was almost sent away to Taiwan for that. In fear of being sent away, he tried to please them again while still secretly playing in the band. Soon, the pressure started to weigh down on him. He had the band's dedication, but he also had to worry about doing well in school and making his parents happy.

During a gig, the time finally came for Mikah to make his choice. Lukas was known for cutting himself on stage, really acting out and making a scene. He was crazy, wild, but this moment was different. They were close as Lukas took his blade and cut the boy's face. A long, jagged scar as a symbol of what it takes to be one of the Bad Kids and that's when Mikah chose them over his parents.
