he isn't arrogant enough to think himself special. he doesn't keep ari up at nights (not the way ari does him) and he probably wasn't the best fuck of his life - he's off limits, he's resistant; that's what attracts ari and the more he tries to free himself, the tighter ari's grip; he may be digging his own grave.
