In some ways it was nearly idyllic. That was how she would describe it later, in her interviews. She would speak kindly of the period in her life when she felt insignificant, uncherished, and ugly. She had never been suited for that kind of life. [break][break] She was too hungry for the kind of fame they sold on magazines and the incredible ferocity of the women on them. When those women did anything, people stood up and they listened. She wanted that, more than anything in the world. She finished school early and she moved to London without the blessing of anybody. She struck out at sixteen and she changed her stupid, plain girl name to Capella Beliveau. She rewrote her history, and she vowed to control her future just the same. [break][break] She got her big break after two years of relentless networking, dance classes, and sheer force of will. ANL recruited her as a member of their newest teen pop group, the Crystals. She was the perfect fit for the Diamond of the group; an ice cold beauty with enough steel in her spine to lead. They were a hit. She was instantly taken from the obscurity of being a country bumpkin in a big city to international stardom. The Crystals sold out stadiums in cities worldwide, from Tokyo to Melbourne to New York City. They charted a new album each year at #1. But all of their fast wealth and prosperity made an already volatile situation worse. [break][break] One by one the girls fell to their individual vices. For some it was drugs, or men, or drinks. ANL covered it all up, of course, but Capella watched them all self-destruct. And her? She wasn't above it either. She started racking up debt from houses and vacations and fashion and anything else she could use to prove she had 'made it'. It couldn't have lasted. They broke up after the youngest girl died in a drug-related incident, their spot at the top was quickly filled by another. In this industry, you were only as relevant as your last words, after all. [break][break] ANL offered her a solo artist contract. She took it without hesitation, thinking that lightning really could strike twice, that she could work her magic even without the Diamond mantle. But she was wrong. Her solo act flopped. She became a nobody- with an enormous debt piling up and bills to pay. She would never blame herself for that. She broke up with ANL after years of languishing on the B-list, watching younger stars make it, time and time again. Her very public departure shocked the industry for all of five minutes, but that was all the time she needed. [break][break] Now she's working under Idle as a talent manager. She might have missed her big chance, but a bitch needs to eat. [attr="class","fngapp-quotetxt"]LET ME BE YOUR RULER, YOU CAN CALL ME QUEEN BEE.
