He lived in a decent middle class neighborhood in Kyoto and had a standard life. He wasn’t hungry or homeless, he had decent grades, and overall he didn’t have many worries. Or rather, he had so little worries he never really matured. He did what he wanted with his time choosing to practice instruments rather than actually do schoolwork, skitting by with grades that could be far better than they were but man, his comics improved over time. Minori managed to graduate with his class though, though his level of maturity. Of course, due to his lack of respect towards deadlines, he never sent out any sort of application or took any sort of test for his college nor made any plan to go. [break][break] He decided though, as any good entrepreneur would do, to market his skills and he managed to get a small gig with a local Japanese rock band. They made a lot of money fairly quickly, becoming a flash sensation that had formed in the Kyoto underground and making a fair amount of money. With this money, he moved out of his parents’ home and into his own home where his enjoyment of liquor and easy love blossomed. Words came easy to him and with dexterous fingers on the guitar he managed to head in a better direction than he had originally been in. His quick fame did manage to win him the heart of an up and coming pop singer named Shigeo Chosokabe, though their relationship was really nothing more shouting and bedroom athletics, with the only word toxic coming to the mind… a word that was perhaps too gentle for the true nature of the conflict of these two. [break][break] At twenty-six, well, he had a little falling out with the band he had been in since he had graduated high school. He then signed with a band on ANL, though the band ended up being from Canada. He picked up English slowly, never really getting that close to his bandmates due to a language barrier. Of course, he played spectacularly well even with the problem of language though it would be more of a problem. [break][break] At twenty-eight, more troubles seemed to come his way. Minori’s appearance that had yet to really change from when he was in his early twenties and ended up getting Shigeo harassed at clubs for going out with “jailbait”. One of these nights in a club, the fighting got too bad and Shigeo, who was on one of his rare visits, rushed out of the club. Enraged and hurt, the slightly older man of the two decided to fall back what had become a rather commonplace habit of drinking himself into a stupor. He stormed out of that bar at two in the morning, barely unable to put one foot in front of the other and walked in front of a car. He didn’t feel anything, not in the alcohol induced numbness and was rushed to the hospital. [break][break] He woke up a week later, Shigeo never appearing in his hospital room and his right side completely wrecked from his shoulder to his hip. His arms were permanently damaged within his right arm, making it impossible for him to play an instrument. Minori lost his contract with the band and nearly lost everything, scattering around to find a job. He taught himself how to write with his left hand, the writing starting as a mess of scribbles turning into something slightly legible after a few months and attempted to find a job in the music industry as a manager. He started with looking at ANL, only to find himself rejected as a result of his behavior as an artist and his lack of responsibility. He managed then to find a job as an editor of an online music site, quickly taking the job with its crappy pay but managing to keep his apartment. Since then, Minori has matured tremendously. His sense of “fun” has dwindled, though his tolerance for liquor has grown and he is more responsible than before if not a little bitter. He hopes that as he starts his fourth year working on this site, hoping to perhaps find the next new artist in his spare time to manage in order to get back at ANL. Until then, he can only hope.
